Bridgewater State College  Study Tour 2004

Day One: Depart Boston’s Logan Airport - transfer in Detroit for Osaka / Kansai International Airport

Day Two: Arrival Cross international date line; proceed through customs  and meet your G H A tour manager in the Arrival Lobby; transfer to hotel in Kyoto (7 nights including full buffet breakfast daily)

Day Three: Ancient Capital Full day tour of Nara: Horyuji, Todaiji Temples and Kasuga Shrine; return to Kyoto in the early evening

Day Four: Feudal Era Full day tour of Kyoto: Kinkaku-ji, Ryoan-ji Temples and Nijo Castle

Day Five: Imperial Capital Full day tour of Kyoto: Sanjusangendo (home of 1,001 Kannon statues),  Kyoto Imperial Palace (permission required), Kiyomizu Temple

Day Six: Open Agenda Optional excursions available upon request

Day Seven: Arashiyama Tenryu-ji Temple and optional tour of Taizo-in Garden & tea house

Day Eight: Folk Crafts Morning tour of Heian Shrine;, Museum of Traditional Crafts; visit traditional crafts shops in Takeshita-dori

Day Nine: World War II Depart Kyoto for Himeji Castle and half-day guided tour of Hiroshima; spend the night in Miyajima in traditional seaside inn; dinner included

Day Ten: Shinto Morning guided tour of Itsukushima Shrine and Miyajima; afternoon transfer via bullet train to Tokyo

Day Eleven: Modern Japan Full day tour of Tokyo: Edo-Tokyo Museum, Asakusa, Sensoji Temple; shopping in Shibuya; remainder of the day is free for shopping

Day Twelve: Departure Tour Manager coordinates afternoon airport transfer and group check-in at Tokyo / Narita International Airport - TOUR DISBANDS

G H A University Student Travel Programs include a full-time tour manager, local guides, admissions, some meals, JR Rail Passses and a one-night stay in a traditional inn. Itineraries are custom-designed to the specific needs of each academic agenda.
